Portfolio for: Periodic Control Inspector
Periodic Inspection and Testing of Pressure Vessels
As part of occupational safety and equipment reliability practices, I carried out periodic inspections and safety tests of pressure vessels in accordance with national regulations and international standards, such as:
TS EN 13445 – Unfired Pressure Vessels
TS EN 286 / TS EN 14359 – Air receivers and pressure tanks
Regulation on Health and Safety Requirements for the Use of Work Equipment (Turkey)
Scope of Inspection and Testing:
Visual inspections to detect external/internal corrosion, mechanical damage, and structural defects.
Hydrostatic pressure testing (hydrotest) to verify the vessel's integrity and resistance under test pressure, typically 1.3 to 1.5 times the operating pressure.
Functional checks of safety valves, pressure gauges, level indicators, and other critical components.
Wall thickness measurements using ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment where applicable.
Documentation of all findings, including test pressures, durations, and any non-conformities.
Ensuring compliance with the inspection intervals as defined by the manufacturer, standards, or legislation (e.g., annual inspections).
Common types of pressure vessels I inspected include:
Air compressors and air tanks
Steam boilers and economizers
Hydrophore systems
Expansion tanks and accumulators
All inspections were performed by certified personnel using calibrated equipment, in accordance with legal safety requirements and workplace risk assessments.
